As <b>Union Bank of India</b> was the first bank to publish its
vacancies for PO recruitment after the IBPS exam back in December 2011, it
announced its interview schedule quite early in January. After that, the
aspirants who got to select for interview shared their experiences with us.
Most of them had a pretty good smile in their faces. Let us go into detail
about their experiences.<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Interview was taken at the bank selected places and the
environment was competitive, yet relaxing for the aspirants. Some of them when
asked about the interview experience answered that they were asked about their
family background, achievements in school, colleges and topics like this. Also
questions were on how the education you gathered upto now can be implemented in
the field of banking sector. This question was asked pretty much to many
candidates.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCSUXIn4UdYyafDmo4hjimEOmoD33Vv1JMz4R9t2_tGUGYlcqaDWr_0N9SY-43ynmYHXFNS-h5pUT_d9I8krZrkI_N-UOeBtew7O110mM8wDCTbXioDvRFZZfVIPNMbVOfW37rMYy78EE/s1600/Interview.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCSUXIn4UdYyafDmo4hjimEOmoD33Vv1JMz4R9t2_tGUGYlcqaDWr_0N9SY-43ynmYHXFNS-h5pUT_d9I8krZrkI_N-UOeBtew7O110mM8wDCTbXioDvRFZZfVIPNMbVOfW37rMYy78EE/s1600/Interview.jpg" /></a> Some of them were asked HR questions, testing their IQ and
pressure handling situation. HR questions are normally tricky and confusing,
but dealing with them boldy and wisely does the job quite well. The fact is,
the panel which took their interviews were more or less of the opinion to
understand the pressure handling power of the interviewees. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
And questions were also there on banking sector like what is
liquidity, CRR, forex and business, euro-zone debt crisis, SB, RRB, RBI and
bank relations and all. Some of the aspirants were reported to be asked about
recent recession, world issues regarding US and euro zone crisis. So, it is
pretty clear that beside banking knowledge, current issues should be kept in
mind.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Also, as expected many were asked the common question, “If
you have done this and this, why not move on with it in your career, why you
want to become a PO?” And,” what is making you to come to banking sector after you
did Engineering/Computers?” Also some questions related to role of PO in the
banking sector were also asked. We also noticed that the panel asked questions
according to the educational background of the candidate. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
So, to mark words in short, interview was good for most of
the aspirants and the shortlistings will be on a much close point to point
basis. Also it will keep the other IBPS passed out candidates motivated on how
to prepare for other upcoming interviews. Be prepared for any question, and
answer frankly and honestly. That’s the key to success. Stay tuned and stay
updated.</div>

Since last year IBPS started its campaign of taking exam for
PO, <span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD5">clerks</span> and specialist <span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD10">officers</span> in the 19 <span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD4">public</span> sector banks in India,
exceptional are SBI and the <span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD3">private sector banks</span>. This was indeed a great work
by IBPS authorities. Since then, nearly more than half the banks have <span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD2">announced</span>
their <span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD1">recruitment</span> plans as of now. And overall 13000+ posts <span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD12">have been</span> announced
for PO interview. But the fact is, there is a glitch in the recruitment system,
what we will be focusing on today.<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<a name='more'></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNlb5fODbH54t-IqEk9dtfsrhhWFwdvtaz6AjPAdvTsi__hdOz4L3VTAUCMspyMuteBH97i6T9FDfyFNsp8sWVCrPg3WU7jzuh1d7HN6cLfJ3SY4R6fRMMXgO5b1FlK4l6OALgQWXVT1U/s1600/IBPS-CWE.gif" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="115" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNlb5fODbH54t-IqEk9dtfsrhhWFwdvtaz6AjPAdvTsi__hdOz4L3VTAUCMspyMuteBH97i6T9FDfyFNsp8sWVCrPg3WU7jzuh1d7HN6cLfJ3SY4R6fRMMXgO5b1FlK4l6OALgQWXVT1U/s200/IBPS-CWE.gif" width="200" /></a>When IBPS announced its plans for Probationary officer exam,
it made the eligibility criteria as a pass in graduation. So, more than ten
lakh students gave the exam in the hope of getting through one of the
prestigious public sector banks among the nineteen. Little they knew that time
that they were playing a gamble with themselves. When the results were
announced, out of 10 lakh plus students, about one lakh passed the exam. So
far, so good. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
But as the public sector banks revealed their plans, the
IBPS passed people has chaos and grief. The reason was they noticed only 40% of
the pass will get a chance to sit in the interview. So, where is the lacking?
It is because, in the eligibility criteria, many banks gave 60% or 55% as minimum
in graduation, which many did not have. They said IBPS should have said it
beforehand, or it was their money swapping plan. Also the banks are taking Rs.
200 as a fee which is what very much astonishing on their behalf, as it seems
to be their money swapping plan too.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Also it was asked by many aspirants, that in such a short
interval so many banks are producing their recruitment plans, and giving a high
cutoff for interview. So, it means that they will select only the topscorers
for interview. As, the topscorers will definitely not sitback <span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD6">applying</span> to one,
but all what comes out. So, if they get in a bank, and they are called for
another bank interview, they will simply not go, thus snatching another
lowscorer’s chance and making the seat empty whatsoever. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
So, as far banks are concerned, they should call atleast
250000 with the topscorers for Group discussion, and then select less people
for interview. That seems a good option, as many will get a chance to sit for
the next step and will not feel that it was the banks and IBPS which cheated
them even after getting a pretty good score, but will think it was their
inability to compete. So, banks should consult with themselves and come to a
solution, before calling the same topscorers for interview. As they are one
person and cannot work in 19 banks! Give a chance to around half the IBPS
passouts, or else there is no reason why IBPS passed more than one lakh
aspirants. That is what most aspirants said, better watch the move IBPS and
banks take.</div>

<b>Institute of Banking Personnel</b> or IBPS started its
recruitment plan for Probationary Officers in August 2011, for which the exams
were held in 13th and 19th November all over India. But
the controversy started forming when the results were out in mid December. The
controversy was about the eligibility criteria in IBPS and then in the banks
being different. And as the public sector banks started giving notice for
interview, the complexity was crystal clear among the aspirants who passed
IBPS.<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPcrQg5zIqKc60dGX8GKQWmH4lHtZsZ9aSjEpYWaiiY9G5BsxGs-fbZGHZNLJ-W9pfHndBpCwUKJCoFSjs056ozfn8g0eVyIFPSeJuMkTNJ_W5Zp4jJP_XB2Thyphenhyphen4ilnPUIU6XMWYPeTMo/s1600/top_banner_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="97" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPcrQg5zIqKc60dGX8GKQWmH4lHtZsZ9aSjEpYWaiiY9G5BsxGs-fbZGHZNLJ-W9pfHndBpCwUKJCoFSjs056ozfn8g0eVyIFPSeJuMkTNJ_W5Zp4jJP_XB2Thyphenhyphen4ilnPUIU6XMWYPeTMo/s200/top_banner_1.jpg" width="200" /></a>When Corporation Bank released its plans for recruitment of
350+ Pos, the controversy was clear. The eligibility criteria was not a pass in
graduation as was in IBPS, but a 55% in graduation. This criteria was not there
when aspirants applied for IBPS. So, it formed chaos among the aspirants who
made a good score in IBPS, but did not have the eligibility criteria pass mark
in graduation. And as other banks started giving notice, this formed a hue and
cry among the aspirants.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
It should be mentioned that near about one lakh plus
aspirants passed IBPS. But still more than 50% of the aspirants could not apply
to most of the banks, as the criteria the banks gave was out of their reach.
When the banks and IBPS authorities were contacted, they sticked to their claim
of official decisions cannot be revealed. So, many of the aspirants lost the
opportunity, having the gold spoon in their hand.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Many of the aspirants and their parents were depressed and
angry, that why IBPS did not mention it before, about the eligibility criteria
banks will provide afterwards, afterall getting such high scores did not help
and the IBPS pass scorecard turned into a valueless prize in their hands.
Though there are some banks which are giving a pass in graduation, the numbers
are less and every passed student applying it, makes the cutoff for PO interview
pretty high, as obvious from Union Bank interview cutoff.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
But as banks are in the process of releasing recruitment
notice for Pos and interview notice, many are still hopeful. Also it is to be
seen that IBPS and the banks change their policies to some extent or not, for
the betterment of the talented aspirants. And many of the future aspirants are
hopeful for the next IBPS PO exam. As the IBPS Bank PO controversy goes on, a
clear and distinct formula is still to be revealed, and aspirants are looking
forward for a feedback.</div>

<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The demand for bank jobs have been again in the flow, after
the IBPS written events. After that, the bank updates are announced at repeated
regular intervals. After a long time banks have given their recruitment
projects, as many of the bank PO and clerks will be retiring in the coming
years and at present. So, banks have been recruiting lots of manpower. So, in
this chance, why do not you grab this golden spoon? And for that only cracking
the exam is not sufficient, more than that is cracking the hard interview. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Here are some more than useful tips and ideas for you to
crack the bank interviews with confidence.</div>
<a name='more'></a><ul style="text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJSw0EjYudM-mE5A2fB0wSPSJKItvONfUlCknJVJrEUYrr8IdV-506V6dcj3cxPUsZOBAxiRWXB-uzazfTA8bobcdNo3S4edznfsZkJ7WeJuyyy96YHIFsWAp7Ube1a0HuPqC2DGMBSKw/s1600/interview.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJSw0EjYudM-mE5A2fB0wSPSJKItvONfUlCknJVJrEUYrr8IdV-506V6dcj3cxPUsZOBAxiRWXB-uzazfTA8bobcdNo3S4edznfsZkJ7WeJuyyy96YHIFsWAp7Ube1a0HuPqC2DGMBSKw/s1600/interview.jpg" /></a>
<li><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Smartness and
presentation matters:</b> You have to be smart and confident to crack the
interview. It is the foremost and most important criteria the judging panel
looks for in a candidate. As you have to face various conditions working in a
bank, you have to be smart and honest, able to handle all types of awkward
situations.</li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Understanding in your
words: </b>Whenever you are sitting in an interview, you should be interacting
face to face with the panel. And your fluency really matters. As it proves your
confidence and interaction ability. </li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li>
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Be calm and not aggressive:</b>
Banking sector does not mean you have to be aggressive in your attitude. So in
the interview, try to be calm and cool, answering all questions with a smiling
face. That will make you easy and comfortable in front of the panel, as well as
prove your attitude towards the subject.
</li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Be updated in
information:</b> It is very much important that you go to the interview with
all the knowledge on the banking and finance sector. After all you will be
working in the banking sector, and judges really appreciate you to a good
advantage, if you can answer them well.</li>
</ul>
</div>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Be specific and to
the point:</b> All round the world knowledge pouring in from your mouth, and
you will be thinking you are impressing the judge. Never do that. Whatever the
judge asks, be specific and to the point. They search for people who are knowledgeable
and can specify an essay to a paragraph. Got what I mean?</li>
</ul>
<div>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Casual attitude
helps:</b> Being a little casual in banking interviews help. Because the
attitude you possess to the outer world, is what interests the interviewer.
Talk frankly and cheerfully and do not
hesitate to speak out of the blue, whenever you are asked for.</li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Banking knowledge and
terms, be prepared:</b> Banking terms are a must in banking interviews, which will
be asked and you cannot hide from that. Be prepared on terms like banking
terminology, banking procedures, RBI facts, socio-economic issues etc. </li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">If you are a techie,
be prepared for the most common question:</b> This is somewhat common. But very
important. If you are from a professional field, you will be asked the most
common question,” Being a professional (Engineer/), why you want to serve the
banking sector?” Be well prepared for it.</li>
</ul>

with well dressed up, you will sure crack any bank interview. Though marks in
graduation and written matter, but to get an edge over others, these are more
than life changing tips, what can be called the turning point of your career.
